site.btaVolume of Bulgaria's Agricultural Production Drops by 11% in 2020, Year on Year

October 11 (BTA) - The value of the final output produced
 by Bulgaria's agriculture in 2020 was valued at 7, 866.1
million leva, down 4.5 per cent from 2019. The decrease was
mainly due to a 11.0 per cent decrease in the volume of
production, despite a 7.3 per cent increase of prices.

At 5,238.0 million leva, the value of crop output represented
66.6 per cent of the total  value of agricultural  output.
Cereals (2,608.5 million leva) and industrial crops (1,667.0
million leva) accounted for as much as 81.6 per cent of the
value of crop  output.

Compared to 2019, the crop output value dropped by 7.0 per cent,
 as a result of a 16.0 per cent decrease in volumes, partially
offset by a 10.6 per cent price increase. The decreased volumes
of crop output was mainly due to a decline in the production of
cereals and industrial crops as a result of lower yields caused
by the prolonged drought.

The livestock output produced in 2020 was valued at 1,962.0
million leva, or 24.9 per cent of the final output  in  
agriculture. Compared to 2019, the livestock output increased by
 2.7 per cent, which was due to a 2.0 per cent increase in
volumes and 0.7 per cent increase in prices.

Compared to 2019, the value of agricultural services output
decreased by 6.1 per cent, while the value of output from
secondary non-agricultural  activities increased by 2.6 per
cent. The increase in output from secondary non-agricultural
activities was due to a 4.6 per cent increase in prices.

The goods and services currently consumed in agriculture in 2020
 were valued at 4,446.6 million leva, 6.9 per cent down from
2019. The decrease was due to a 5.1 per cent drop in and a 1.9
per cent drop in prices.

The gross value added produced by agriculture in 2020 amounted
to 3,419.5 million leva (at basic prices), down 1.1 per cent
less than in 2019. The 19.1 per cent significant  decrease was
almost entirely offset by a 22.3 per cent increase in prices.
