National Health Insurance Fund to Ask for Lv 100 Mln Budget Update

Sofia, September 25 (BTA) - The National Health Insurance Fund
(NHIF) will ask for its budget to be updated by 100 million
leva, NHIF Supervisory Board Chairman and Deputy Finance
Minister Kiril Ananiev told journalists here on Thursday. Fifty
million leva from the update will go for inpatient care, 25
million for outpatient medications, 15 million for cancer
treatment and 10 million for medical supplies.

Ananiev explained that the funds will come from NHIF's account
balance as of January 1, 2014, which consists of what is
remaining from NHIF's overall activities for last year. The
demand for updating the budget will be sent to the Health
Minister on Thursday. The NHIF's budget update will not involve
transfers from the national budget to that of the NHIF, Ananiev
said.

A total of 75 million leva are expected to be collected from
health insurance contributions, which is more than the initial
projections, he further said, adding that the Supervisory Board
has decided to create an analytics department, which will
analyze NHIF's expenditures.
