70th Edition of Plovdiv International Technical Fair
Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria, September 29 (BTA) - The 70th
International Technical Fair opened in Plovdiv on Monday.
Some 450 direct exhibitors and 417 companies in joint
participation from a total of 37 countries are taking part.
Austria, Taiwan, Poland and the Czech Republic are participating
on their own. Ivan Sokolov, Chairman of the fair's Directors
Board, said that 54 companies are making a comeback and there
are 100 new exhibitors. Innovations, showcased at the fair, are
aimed at the individual, reducing energy and financial costs,
improving labour conditions and environmental protection, he
added. Thirty world, European and Bulgarian innovations will be
presented at the forum. These include a system for
robot-assisted in vitro fertilization, a Bulgarian electric car,
and NASA-designed energy saving technology.
The largest number of companies operate in machine building and
construction, while the Autotech, Intermin Expo and Chemistry
events report a larger number of participants. Thirty-four
products are competing for a gold medal this year.
An investment forum, Green Energy Days and a two-day European
Mining Forum with 250 participants will take place within the
framework of the fair.
In Bulgaria, the mining industry accounts for some 5 per cent of
GDP, its annual output is nearly 3 billion leva and employs
over 30,000 people.
The Green Energy Days will focus on financial instruments for
energy efficiency employed by municipalities, energy management
at schools and methods for measuring air quality in cities.
The fair will be on until Saturday.
