Youth Unemployment Goes Down
by 4 Percentage Points

Sofia, September 30 (BTA) - Unemployment among Bulgaria's young
people aged 25 and under has decreased by 4 percentage points so
far this year, dropping to 21.2 per cent, Employment Agency
Executive Director Asen Angelov said on Tuesday, citing Eurostat
data. Angelov opened a conference on youth unemployment.

According to him, youth unemployment in Bulgaria is below the EU
average. The trend of large groups of young Bulgarians losing
their jobs has been contained, Angelov said. He noted that the
trend used to affect mostly people who did not possess
qualifications required by the labour market. It was contained
through employment intermediation, consultation and close
cooperation between public institutions and employers. LI/VE
