Youth Unemployment in Bulgaria Down 5 Per Cent from 2013
Bourgas, on the Black Sea, October 13 (BTA) - The level of youth
unemployment in Bulgaria has dropped by 5 percentage points
from 2013 and now stands at 23 per cent, below the EU average.
Approximately 57,000 persons aged under 29 in this country are
jobless, Elka Dimitrova, Director of the Labour Market Policy
Directorate at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, said at
a regional roundtable here on "The Social Economy and Social
Entrepreneurship in Bulgaria: Young People's Employability and
Challenges."
The edging down of youth unemployment is due, among other
things, to the gradual recovery of the Bulgarian economy,
Dimitrova noted.
The EU has allocated financing for countries with over 25 per
cent unemployment. Quite a few regions in Bulgaria will benefit
from this money. Some 110 million euro will be available under
this programme, Dimitrova said.
