Justice Minister Ivanov Pays Working Visit to Romania


Sofia, January 23 (BTA) - Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov is on a
working visit to Romania, his ministry said in a press release
Friday. On the Bulgarian delegation are Deputy Justice Minister
Petko Petkov and Sava Petrov of the Supreme Prosecutor's Office
of Cassation.

At their meeting on Friday, Ivanov and Romanian Justice Minister
Robert Cazanciuc discussed their countries' progress in the
process of reforming the justice system and in the fight against
corruption, Agerpress said. The ministers underscored the
importance of close bilateral cooperation for strengthening the
positive development achieved within the Cooperation and
Verification Mechanism and the efforts for entry in the Schengen
area.

Hristov and Cazanciuc also talked about the improvement of the
conditions in prisons and the application for financial support
by the European Commission in this sector.

During his visit to Bucharest, Justice Minister Ivanov is also
scheduled to meet with High Court of Cassation and Justice
President Livia Stanciu, Prosecutor General Laura Codruta
Kovesi, and National Integrity Agency President Horia Georgescu,
the Bulgarian Justice Ministry said.
