The President's Support a Dream charity initiative will provide one-off financial support for the education of 17 first-year students and four top achievers in the 12th grade. The university students will get BGN 4,340 each and the school students will be supported with BGN 2,500 each, President Rumen Radev's press secretariat said.
The 17 students are majoring in finance, information systems, public administration, health care, social management, psychology, public relations, sports, film and television. Most of them finished secondary school with very good or top grades.
"It is great that you kept your word to continue your education in university. Taking this bold step forward gives you the key to new and better development opportunities," Radev said in his address to the young people.
Support a Dream helps young people living in residential or foster care homes. The President's Administration grants a one-off scholarship to first-year students and top-performing 12th-graders. The funds are raised during an annual charity campaign, the press secretariat said.
It was announced in May that the charity initiative had raised over BGN 87,000.
