Bulgarian Red Cross Accepts Donations for Nepal, Ready to Send Rescuers
Sofia, April 28 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) is ready
to send mountain rescuers and trained dogs to Nepal to help deal
with the aftermath of the devastating earthquake which hit the
country on April 25.
So far BRC has not been asked officially to join the rescue
effort in the Himalayan country, but Bulgarian rescuers are
ready to leave at any time if due arrangements are made to send
them off and then receive them at the airport in Kathmandu. The
airport in Nepal's capital has a limited traffic capacity, which
is why rescuers from all over the world have to wait in
neighbouring countries until they can be received in Nepal. It
is also difficult to distribute the relief aid which is of vital
importance for the affected population.
BRC is keeping in touch with the International Federation of Red
Cross and Red Crescent Societies, whose crews are on the scene
assessing the needs in the disaster area.
Donations for the Nepal earthquake victims can be made via the
following bank account:
UNICREDIT BULBANK AD
IBAN: BG23UNCR70001519676152;
BIC: UNCRBGSF;
BULGARIAN RED CROSS
(For Nepal earthquake victims)
Donations of 1 lev each can be made by SMS text message at
telephone number 1466, applicable to all mobile telephone
networks in Bulgaria. Online donations are accepted on the BRC
website www.redcross.bg.
