Regional Development Minister Presents Opportunities for Participation in Infrastructure Projects in Bulgaria before Austrian Business People

Sofia, April 29 (BTA) - Regional Development and Public Works
Minister Lilyana Pavlova Wednesday presented the opportunities
for participation in infrastructure projects in Bulgaria before
Austrian business people. Speaking at a forum on Transport
Infrastructure Pavlova said that the government prioritizes the
creation of conditions for more and bigger public-private
partnerships and investments in the national economy.

The forum provides an opportunity for direct contacts between
Bulgarian and Austrian companies in infrastructure, road
transport technologies and logistics.

Pavlova recalled that in the current programming period Bulgaria
will have access to more than 15,000 million euro in various
programmes, which, however, will not be enough for the proper
development of the country's transport infrastructure.

The Minister informed about interest on the part of Austrian
companies in Lot 3 of the Strouma motorway and voiced a hope
that a competition for the lot will be held next year. Other
opportunities for participation in transport projects are the
completion of almost 200 km from the Hemus motorway, and the
roads connecting Sofia, Vidin and Danube Bridge 2, Sofia -
Kalotina, Varna - Bourgas. Some of these projects have been
submitted under the so-called Juncker Plan. Yet another
opportunity is the future introduction of a toll system for
motorway traffic.
