Parliament Adopts Conclusively Energy Efficiency Act

Sofia, April 30 (BTA) - Parliament adopted conclusively on
second reading all texts from the new Energy Efficiency Act, the
 enforcement of which is assigned to the ministers of Energy, of
 Economy and of Transport, Information Technology and
Communications.

Liable entities who do not observe the ordinances will be
subject to sanctions. Failing to meet the individual annual
objectives for new energy savings will be penalized by a fine
between 1,000 and 5,000 leva or a pecuniary penalty between
5,000 and 500,000 leva.

According to legal definition, energy efficiency means the ratio
 of output of performance, service, goods or energy, to input of
 energy. The total energy consumption is defined as the total
quantity of energy purchased by the final consumer for a period
of one year.
