Sofia, December 4 (BTA) - Koprivshtitsa has been selected by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to participate in the "Best Tourist Resorts" initiative, according to the press centre of the Ministry of Tourism. The competition included settlements from around the world with a low population density of up to 15,000 inhabitants.

The Bulgarian town of Koprivshtitsa was among those selected in the category Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO Upgrade Programme, for which it received an official invitation letter signed by UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili, the statement said.

Thanks to this, Koprivshtitsa will receive international promotion and targeted support under the Rural Development Programme of the organization for further development of its tourism potential, as well as the prospect of a special label, according to the Ministry of Tourism. DT//
