Rousse-Giurgiu Ferry Service May Be Restored for Duration of Cross-Danube Bridge Repairs

Rousse, on the Danube, May 12 (BTA) - A ferry service which once
existed between Rousse, on the Bulgarian side of the Danube,
and Giurgiu in Romania, may be restored for the duration of the
ongoing repairs on the Romanian section of the bridge between
the two cities. The idea was discussed Monday at a meeting of
Rousse Regional Governor Stefko Bourdjiev and representatives of
 transport companies.

The ferry line ceased to operate 12 years ago.

The participants discussed ways of optimizing the organization
of traffic through the bridge while the repairs are on, and
alternative routes for large cargo vehicles.

The Bulgarian and the Romanian side are yet to sign an agreement
on the traffic arrangements during the repair of the bridge.
