Measures for Structural, Financial and Organizational Streamlining Undertaken at National Radio

Sofia, May 19 (BTA) - An audit by an independent consulting
company is going to be conducted of the various units of the
Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) to assess their expediency and
workload, on the basis of whose findings the BNR's units will be
streamlined, BNR said. The audit is one of the measures
envisaged in the management programme of the radio's Governing
Board.

A performance assessment system is to be introduced in the radio
as of June. Payments in addition to employees' salaries are
expected to be reinstated partially or even fully in July. The
overall remuneration system is to be changed next year.

Radio employees reaching retirement age will continue to be
pensioned off.

More than a week ago some of BNR's reporters started protests
against the radio's management and demanded its resignation over
a recent decision to halve additional payments and bonuses. BNR
Director General Radoslav Yankoulov said on May 11 that the pay
cuts were necessitated by the condition laid down in the state
budget requiring BNR to reduce by 10 per cent its payroll costs
in 2015.
