Four Bulgarian Students among Top Winners at  Intel International Science and Engineering Fair

Sofia, May 19 (BTA) - Four Bulgarian high school students won
awards for three innovation projects at the world's largest
pre-college science competition, the 2015 Intel International
Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), Intel's Bulgaria
division said Tuesday.  The projects are in the sphere of
mathematics, physics and system software.
   
Peter Gaidarov of Plovdiv won the second award in Mathematics,
as well as the second award of the American Mathematical
Society. Grigori Matein of Sofia won the fourth award in the
Physics and Astronomy category. Marin Shalamanov of Sofia and
Vassil Vassilev of Karlovo, who competed with a joint project,
won the fourth prize in the System Software category.
 
More than 1,700 of the world's most promising young scientists,
engineers and mathematicians gathered in Pittsburgh in the
United States to participate in the world's largest pre-college
science competition. These young innovators represented the best
 of more than 7 million high school students who participated in
 science fairs around the globe during the year, having won top
honors at local, regional and national science competitions to
earn their place as finalists at Intel ISEF 2015. For all, it
presented the opportunity to vie for more than USD 5 million in
prizes and scholarships as finalists shared original research
projects - including breakthrough technologies and potential
solutions to some the world's most vexing problems - with panels
 of esteemed judges, the Intel press release said.
