European Commission Approves New Rural Development Programme

Sofia, May 20 (BTA) - Agriculture Minister Dessislava Taneva
told journalists in the Council of Ministers that the European
Commission has approved the new Rural Development Programme. It
is of the worth of 2,900 million euro, of which 2,300 million
euro are provided by the EU.

The funds will be distributed as follows: 1,111 million euro for
support of the business in agriculture, 911 million euro for
investments in the environment, including bioproduction, and 750
million euro will be allocated for development of the public
infrastructure and the LEADER programme.

The Government launched in advance at its own risk a call for
investments in farms within the first measure, 4.1 and there is
a high interest in it, Minister Taneva said. The call for
proposals within this measure is open until June 8.

A measure for processing of agricultural and farm produce will
be launched by the end of 2015. A second call - for investments
in hydromeliorative infrastructure - within measure 4.1 will be
opened in the late autumn.
