Enterprises to Suspend Work for One Hour on June 26 in Protest against Electricity Price Hike

Sofia, June 19 (BTA) - Employers begin protests against the
pending increase of the price of electricity, reads a statement
of five business organizations received Friday by BTA. The
statement says that all employers organizations in Bulgaria
unanimously and categorically state that they do not want to pay
for the "thefts, waste and ineptitude" in the Bulgarian energy
sector.

"With careless acts this country is being pushed to grave
macroeconomic problems, among them a considerable drop of
economic activity and sharp increase of unemployment," the
statement reads. The five organizations which signed it ask how
it is possible that in the presence of over-production in the
sector - minimum load of the system of 2,656 MW and installed
capacity of 12,723 MW, there are still insistent calls to
increase the price of electricity.

The protest actions will continue with suspension of work for
one hour starting on June 26 in many enterprises, the employers
say.
