Competition Regulator Fines Uber

Sofia, July 6 (BTA) - The Commission for the Protection of
Competition said Monday it has fined the ride-share company Uber
 for its UberX service. The fine is set at 50,000 leva.

UberX is available in Sofia from December 9, 2015.
  
The competition watchdog has established that the service has
the characteristics of a taxi service but the provider is not
required to meet the conditions set out in the Bulgarian
legislation for taxi drivers and their automobiles. This
violates the rules of competition and Uber creates conditions
for bypassing the law sparing its drivers the costs of obtaining
 the requisite licences, the Commission says.
