Rousse, Northeastern Bulgaria, August 2 (BTA) - Speaking to a BTA reporter, Deputy Chairman of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization-Bulgarian National Movement Iskren Vesselinov said that the biggest danger for the Bulgarian foreign policy towards the Republic of Macedonia in the negotiations on the Good Neighbourliness Treaty is "sliding along the plane of concessions". Vesselinov commented the latest working meeting on the agreement held last week.


In his words, apparently concessions do not work in the negotiations with Skopje. Vesselinov said that too often the incumbents in Skopje misappropriate Bulgarian historical heritage and voice claims about a Macedonian minority in Bulgaria.

"Bulgaria has a legitimate ground to protect the rights of Bulgarians in Macedonia on the basis of approved provisions in documents of the European Union," Vesselinov said, recalling that the signing of a Good Neighbourliness Treaty is a necessary condition for support to Macedonia on its path to EU integration.
