Bulgaria's First-Half  Exports Up 11% Y/Y

Sofia, August 10 (BTA) - Bulgaria's exports in the first half of
 2015 totalled 22,400 million leva, up 11 per cent on year,
according to preliminary data of the National Statistical
Institute (NSI).

In June alone, total exports were worth 4,000 million leva, up
8.7 per cent on a year earlier.

First-half imports totalled 25,400 million leva (at CIF prices),
 up 4.7 per cent on the first half of 2014.

In June 2015, total imports increased 5.8 per cent from June
2014 to 4,400 million leva.

The first-half total foreign trade balance  (export FOB  -
import CIF) was in a deficit of 3,044.5 million leva, 1,090.4
million less than in the first half of 2014. At FOB/FOB prices
(after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports)
the first-half foreign trade balance was also in a deficit of
1,936.8 million leva.

The total foreign trade balance in June alone (export FOB  -
import CIF) was in a deficit of 383.1 million leva. At FOB/FOB
prices the trade balance was in a deficit of 170.8 million leva.

Between January and May, Bulgarian exports to the EU increased
12.2 per cent year on year to 11,600 million leva, according to
preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute.

In May exports to the EU rose 12 per cent from a year earlier to
 2,300 million leva.

Bulgarian imports from the EU Member States in the first five
months of the year increased 8 per cent from a year earlier to
13,300 million leva at CIF prices.

In May Bulgaria's imports from the EU Member States increased
9.4 per cent from May 2014 to 2,600 million leva at CIF prices.

Bulgaria's foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with
the EU between January and May was in a deficit of 1,678.7
million leva. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport
and insurance costs on imports) the balance was in a deficit of
1,139.9 million leva.

In the first half of 2015, Bulgaria's export to third countries
increased 8.8 per cent from a year earlier to 8,200 million
leva, according to NSI preliminary data.

In June 2015, Bulgaria's exports to third countries rose 1.8 per
 cent from a year earlier to 1,500 million leva.

Bulgaria's imports from third countries in the first half of
2015 dropped 0.1 per cent from a year earlier to 9,400 million
leva (at CIF prices).

In June 2015, Bulgaria's imports from third countries increased
5.1 per cent from a year earlier to 1,600 million leva.

The foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with third
countries in the first half of 2015 was in a deficit of 1,127.7
million leva. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport
and insurance costs on imports) the trade balance was in a
deficit of 699.1 million leva.

In June the foreign trade balance with third countries (export
FOB - import CIF) was in a deficit of 145.0 million leva.
