Central Election Commission Designates April 24, 2015 As Last Date for New Address Registration

Sofia, August 12 (BTA) - The Central Election Commission (CEC) decided that April 24, 2015, included, is the last date six months before Election Day, making resident with registered new addresses eligible to vote in the local elections according to Article 396 (1), Article 397 (1) and Items 4 and 5 of Section 1 of the Supplementary Provisions to the Election Code, the Commission said Wednesday.
Bulgarian citizens who are 18 or over on Election Day included, who have not been interdicted, are not serving a prison sentence and have lived for at least six months in the respective location have the right to elect municipal councillors and mayors, according to Article 396 (1) and Article 397 (1) of the Election Code.
By another decision, CEC adopted a chronogram for the local elections on October 25, 2015. According to this, by August 26, 59 days before Election Day, the mayors shall announce in public and publish on the websites of the municipalities the date, hour and location of consultations for the members of the Municipal Election Commissions.
