EC Vice President Georgieva, Labour Minister Kalfin Believe Bulgaria Needs Investment Plan Similar to Juncker Plan

Sofia, August 14 (BTA) - Bulgaria needs an investment plan similar to the so called Juncker Plan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Policy Ivaylo Kalfin and European Commission Vice President Kristalina Georgieva agreed during a Friday meeting here, Kalfin's Ministry reported in a press release.

According to them, the plan must mobilize public and private financial resources for achieving clearly defined investment tasks, speeding up economic growth and creating new jobs. Georgieva has recommended that Bulgaria specializes in a specific field, such as innovations and development of entrepreneurship for example, in which it can establish itself as a regional and European leader.

The two have also discussed the demographic policy in Bulgaria and the possibility to significantly increase financing under programmes, which could allow young people from the Bulgarian diaspora to come back and study in this country. In many cases, these funds could come from the development aid, which the State allocates annually.
