PM Borissov Talks on Phone with Greece's Outgoing Prime Minister Tsipras

Sofia, August 22 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov had a phone conversation with Alexis Tsipras, who resigned as prime minister of Greece on Thursday, the Government Information Service said Saturday. They discussed the current situation in Greece, and Borissov expressed the hope that the country will achieve its much-needed stability.

The Bulgarian PM expressed his gratitude for the cooperation and the understanding achieved in the revocation of Greece's 26 per cent tax on deals and transactions. Talking about the migration pressure, Borissov and Tsipras voiced concern and agreed that their countries should protect together their interest before the European Council.

Borissov recalled the trilateral agreement on police and customs cooperation signed by Bulgaria, Greece in Turkey in Sofia in May, which is a good basis for more coordination and joint work.

Borissov and Tsipras also discussed the importance of the gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece and the need of its accelerated construction as a priority part of the future European Energy Union.
