Interior Minister Buchvarova Urges for Better Coordination of  Crime Prevention Activities

Sofia, October 21 (BTA) - Speaking during a meeting of the
National Council on Crime Prevention on Tuesday, Interior
Minister Roumyana Buchvarova said that better coordination is
sought of the activities for crime prevention, Buchvarova's
Ministry said in a press release.

Buchvarova noted that crime prevention requires better
coordination at all levels of the central and local government
structures, and also with the civil society and the business.

The members of the Council approved the objectives of work
against conventional crime in the next two years, on the basis
of a police report on the problems of crime and analyses of
other ministries and bodies.

The objectives include reducing violence among children and
youth by organizing their spare time and limiting the use of
spirits and drugs; preventive measures against frauds and
attacks against elderly people and people living alone in remote
 places; reducing burglaries and thefts of farm produce;
preventive measures against illegal tree felling and illegal
selling of timber; strengthening the cooperation between the
state institutions, NGOs, the business and the members of the
public.

The Council decided that the plan for achieving the objectives
of crime prevention in 2016-2018 be approved by the end of the
year. The work of the local commissions for public order and
security will be improved which is expected to ensure more
effective crime prevention at the local level.
