President Plans to Convene Consultative Council on National Security in Early November

Blagoevgrad, Southwestern Bulgaria, October 22 (BTA) - President Rosen Plevneliev is
planning to call the Consultative Council on National Security
(CCNS) in the first half of November, Plevneliev himself told
journalists in Blagoevgrad, where he attended the opening of Lot
2 of the Strouma Motorway along with Prime Minister Boyko
Borissov.

CCNS is expected to discuss the geopolitical changes and, on
this basis, draw conclusions about the adjustment of Bulgaria's
security system. He specified that the discussion will not be
focused on the refugees but on the geopolitical changes and the
related risks for Bulgaria.

Talking about the upcoming referendum, the head of State said:
"The political parties neglected the referendum in front of the
whole people and this is a fact." He voiced hope that they will
draw the relevant conclusions and, in the last days of the
campaign, show the attitude, which the people expects from them.
In the course of 25 years the politicians would promise
anything, then everything would be forgotten until the next
elections, he commented. In order to break this circle, which
results in lower citizens' confidence in politics and the
institutions, this referendum should be held and should set the
beginning of holding referendums in Bulgaria on meaningful
issues, which are in the interest of the people, he added.
