End-August Gross External Debt at 82.2% of GDP

Sofia, October 26 (BTA) - Bulgaria's gross external debt was 35,390,700,000 euro (82.2 per cent of GDP) as at August 31, 2015, decreasing by 3,965,700,000 euro (10.1 per cent) compared with December 31, 2014 (when it accounted for 92.1 per cent of GDP) and decreasing by 3,174,700,000 euro (8.2 per cent) compared with August 31, 2014 (when it was 90.2 per cent of GDP).

The total amount of the gross external debt included 27,497,100,000 euro in long-term liabilities (77.7 per cent of the gross external debt or 63.8 per cent of GDP), decreasing by 1,890,400,000 euro (6.4 per cent) compared with December 31, 2014, and by 1,985,900,000 euro (6.7 per cent) compared with August 31, 2014. Short-term liabilities amounted to 7,893,600,000 euro (22.3 per cent of the gross external debt or 18.3 per cent of GDP), decreasing by 2,075,400,000 euro (20.8 per cent) compared with December 31, 2014, and by 1,188,800,000 (13.1 per cent) compared with August 31, 2014.

As at August 31, 2015, general government's gross external debt amounted to 5,909,800,000 euro (13.7 per cent of GDP), decreasing by 116,700,000 euro (1.9 per cent) compared with December 31, 2014, and increasing by 1,151,000,000 euro (24.2 per cent) compared with August 31, 2014.

Banks' external debt was 4,185,800,000 euro (9.7 per cent of GDP), decreasing by 1,281,400,000 euro (23.4 per cent) compared with December 31, 2014, and by 1,377,100,000 euro (24.8 per cent) compared with August 31, 2014.

The stock of intercompany lending amounted to 13,577,500,000 euro (31.5 per cent of GDP), decreasing by 2,300,300,000 euro (14.5 per cent) compared with December 31, 2014, and by 2,698,100,000 euro (16.6 per cent) compared with August 31, 2014.
