GERB Party Considers Unveiling Presidential Nominee in September

Albena, on the Black Sea, June 4 (BTA) - The ruling GERB party is considering the possibility of unveiling its nomination for president of Bulgaria in September, on the eve of the presidential election campaign, GERB Deputy Chairman Tsvetan Tsvetanov told journalists in the Albena resort on Saturday.

The party is in good condition and it does not have to be the first to announce its presidential candidate, Tsvetanov said. "We know that an early nomination of a presidential tandem would spark more political populism and too much political confrontation. The country needs stability now," he reasoned. He added that GERB's nominee will be "well-positioned in the public domain and rather recognizable."

Addressing the 4th Political Academy of Women-GERB in Albena earlier in the day, Tsvetanov said the upcoming presidential elections will test the support base of the parliamentary majority and the government. Every victory won by GERB is a guarantee of stability and sustainability, he said.
