Sofia, November 1 (BTA) - An increase has been observed in the share of power from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission and distribution grid, according to the latest operational data of the Electricity System Operator (ESO).

Compared to the like period in 2016, in January to the end of October 2017, the share of RES-generated power in the transmission grid increased by 13.87 per cent to 1,093,642 MWh.

The biggest increase in the RES share, by 62.56 per cent, was observed in biomass-generated power, followed by power generated by wind, by 11.73 per cent, and solar power, by 4.99 per cent.

In the distribution grid, the share of RES-generated power in January-October 2017 increased by 3.94 per cent year-on-year.

The share of wind-generated power increased by 10.66 per cent, of biomass-generated power, by 2.17 per cent, and of solar powers, by 0.44 points.

A negative share of minus 29.23 per cent is reported for hydroelectric power plants.

The ESO data show increased generation and consumption of electricity which at the end of October 2017 grew by 1.65 per cent and 4.92 per cent, respectively, compared to the like period in 2016.
