Sofia, November 15 (BTA) - In October, unemployment was 6.7 per cent, up by 0.2 percentage points from September, said the Employment Agency on Wednesday.

Compared with October 2016, unemployment declined by 1.2 percentage points.

At the end of October, jobless persons totalled 220,172, up by 3.2 per cent from September and down by 14.7 per cent from a year earlier.

According to data of the Employment Agency, 20,456 people found work in October, bringing to 208,260 the number of people who found work between January and October.

As a result of measures promoting employment, 3,727 people were included in subsidized employment schemes.

Between January and October, a total of 26,782 jobless found employment subsidized by the state budget and the European Social Fund.

The majority of jobs were in the extraction and processing industry, food and clothing industry, furniture making, machine building, hospitality industry, as well as drivers, and teachers.
