Sofia, November 23 (BTA) - The Chinese Cultural Centre in Sofia unveiled Thursday will offer Chinese language, art and calligraphy, music and martial art courses. It will also host exhibitions, performances, courses, lectures and other activities involved in the promotion of Chinese culture.

The opening was attended by the Minister of Culture, Boil Banov, Sofia City Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, the Chinese Vice Minister of Culture Zhang Schou (name may be misspelt) and Chinese Ambassador here Zhang Haizhou.

Exhibitions featuring paper cutting art, calligraphy, tea ceremony and embroidery were part of the opening ceremony.

The Chinese Cultural Centre in Sofia is housed by a 4,000 sq m building including exhibition space, a library, multifunctional salons and training halls.

The centre was opened in the wake of a Joint Communique on the Establishment of Comprehensive Friendly Cooperative Partnership between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Bulgaria during the visit of then Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev to China in January 2014.
