site.btaPM Borissov Confers with WHO Director General Ghebreyesus

Sofia, March 3 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on Saturday conferred with visiting World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus, said the government information service. The two discussed cooperation within the framework of the organization.

Prime Minister Borissov said that as an active member of the WHO Bulgaria supports its objectives and priorities to attain the highest possible level of healthcare in all member countries. He noted the effect of all cooperation agreements signed between WHO's Europe office and the Bulgarian Health Ministry.

Borissov underscored that the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the European Union has two priorities in the field of healthcare along the main lines of work of the WHO: measures against child obesity and improving access to medicines.

The two discussed the efforts of the Bulgarian government for better healthcare which also focuses on disease prevention in addition to medical care.
