Sofia, March 6 (BTA) - Bulgarian companies are involved in projects worth over 500 million euro in India. Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Manolev Tuesday met with representatives of Bulgaria's Excitel Broadband, the fastest developing provider of a broadband connection in Delhi NCR and Hyderabad.

Manolev is in India for the 18th session of the Bulgaria-India Mixed Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

The company works with almost all leading Internet providers in 150 Indian cities and towns. It was licensed as a direct Internet provider for Delhi and Hyderabad. It has 190,000 customers in those two cities alone and a workforce of about 500 in India.

Manolev said the company set an example of ICT partnership with India, including by setting up more joint ventures. He learned about the challenges facing Bulgarian companies in the Indian market and pledged support for them.

Later this week, Manolev will highlight the company's results at a high-level meeting at India's Electronics and Information Technology Ministry.

The Economy Ministry said there were other Bulgarian companies operating in India. In 2016, Greenzone Bulgaria, part of the ASPA Engineering Bulgarian consortium, was granted a certificate, along with its Indian business partners, for a major investment project under the Make in India programme. The project envisages design of a virtual sewerage network and building and maintenance of hundreds of thousands of bio toilets.

In 2017, Greenzone Bulgaria joined another large-scale investment project for a photovoltaic park with a capacity of 500 MW near Patna, Bihar, worth about 500 million euro. The Bulgarian participation in the project is planned at 5 million dollars.

A Bulgarian packaging plant for liquid bitumen went into operation near Mumbai in 2014. It is worth 2.2 million euro and was built by a Bulgarian-Indian holding company, Prime Star Petroleum and Infrastructure Ltd. It is the largest bitumen packaging plant in Asia.

Bulgaria's Huvepharma opened a joint venture for veterinary pharmaceutical products in Pune, Maharashtra.

Bulgarian IT specialists have developed iSOSu App and Imarecon emergency applications which analyse images and videos for real-time recognition and tracking used by individuals and police departments in India.
