Protests against the territorial reduction of the Blue Stones Nature Park will be held in Sliven on December 18 and 22, said Filip Vassilev, one of the organizers of the protests.

Residents insist on preserving the integrity of the nature park, stopping the current procedure for reducing its area, as well as preserving the areas within the Park's borders. Protesters will demand the resignation of the Director of the Blue Stones Nature Park Directorate.

On December 13, a public discussion was held in the Sliven Regional Administration to reduce the area of the Blue Stones Nature Park. Dozens of residents in the hall expressed disagreement with the proposal and organized an online petition against it.

A positive expert opinion on the territorial reduction of the nature park was provided by the Sofia Forestry University, the Sliven Regional Directorate for Forestry, the Blue Stones Nature Park and the Agriculture and Food Ministry. The Stara Zagora Regional Environmental and Water Inspectorate also carried out an analysis, concluding that the territorial reduction of the park will not lead to a deterioration of the nature conservation status and is unlikely to have a negative impact on protected species and habitats.
