"It is important to deepen our cooperation, not only within the EU, but also within our news agencies," said the President of the Greek national news agency ANA-MPA, Aimilios Perdikaris here on Tuesday during the 5th Bulgaria-Greece cross-border conference, held as part of BTA's project Europe in the Balkans: A Common Future. A parallel forum will be held in the southwestern Bulgarian town of Blagoevgrad.
"We are trying to build on this cooperation," Perdikaris said.
He stressed the fruitful cooperation, not only on a bilateral basis, but also at the level of all European and Balkan institutions such as ABNA (Balkan News Agencies Association), EANA (European News Agencies Alliance), and others. All European programmes are important, Perdikaris noted, pointing out that the ANA-MPA also faces challenges in terms of promoting the Cohesion Fund. "It is important because we are public agencies, we have limited resources, we are trying to find new sources of funding. Here comes another important aspect - we inform people about European activities, about the role of the EU and its institutions on the way of life," Perdikaris said.
