Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov, Rector of the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), said the nominees for the Bulgarian Woman of the Year – Saint Zlata of Meglen 2024 Award prove that patriotism knows no bounds and that the Bulgarian spirit can shine wherever it lives. He attended the award ceremony in Sofia's UNWE Maxima Hall on Wednesday.
Prof. Dimitrov noted that it was an honour for the university to host the event, as UNWE actively cooperates with Bulgarian communities.
"The ceremony, organized for 13 years in a row, is a celebration of Bulgarian identity, culture, education and spirituality, and a symbol of gratitude to all the women who, through their talent and love for Bulgaria, keep our language, traditions and identity alive around the world. Among the nominees are teachers, artists, musicians and leaders of choirs and ensembles who not only represent Bulgaria but also build bridges between peoples, cultures and generations," he said.
In his address, the UNWE Rector suggested that the restrictions on applications from young people in the Bulgarian diaspora should be reconsidered, as they really love Bulgaria.
