A celebration dedicated to St. Tryphon, patron saint of winemakers and vine-growers, was held at the Bulgarian Cultural Centre in Odesa. The event was attended by State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad Executive Director Raina Mandzhukova, Consul General of Bulgaria in Odesa Svetoslav Ivanov, and Deputy Director of the Regional Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions Yaroslava Reznikova.

Dimitar Terzi, Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Centre, told BTA that it is now a 20-year-old tradition for the Bulgarians in Odesa to gather on St. Tryphon’s feast day and drink wine and rakia produced by winemakers from the Odesa region. "Today was no exception. Even though we are in a difficult war situation, such gatherings and folk festivals inspire courage to live," he said.

At the end of the celebration amateur dancers and guests performed Bulgarian horo [traditional chain dance] as a symbol of the unity of Bulgarians in Ukraine.
