Bulgarian traditions are not easily preserved abroad, Montreal’s Trakia Folk Dance Club founder Tsonko Stoyanov told BTA’s BG World service on Tuesday.

The Trakia Folk Dance Club in Montreal marked its 10th anniversary and the 60th birthday of its leader and founder Tsonko Stoyanov with a concert on October 28. The show, mottoed "Preserving Tradition", was held in a packed hall at College Jean-de-Brebeuf in the second most populous Canadian city. It was aimed to popularize the Bulgarians' cultural heritage and their authentic tradition among expatriates, the Bulgarian Embassy in Canada said on its internet site.
Ambassador Plamen Georgiev said the concert sent a very strong patriotic message to all Bulgarians in North America and beyond, and demonstrated the revival of the Bulgarian spirit. The Ambassador presented Tsonko Stoyanov with the Ivan Vazov Medal of the Executive Agency of Bulgarians Abroad.
