GERB leader Boyko Borissov underlined the victory of the GERB-UDF in Sunday's parliamentary elections and described it as "categorical". According to the exit polls, the coalition's first place is uncontested.
"From today onwards - we are committed to form a government. With such a victory, we can accept to compromise, but we will not bypass the people's vote. Our agenda will be fundamental for a future government," Borissov said.
He thanked the Bulgarians who had raised the voter turnout. "With such a turnout, we can talk more calmly about how that the new parliament will represent the will of the people," he argued.
"Many changes could occur by tomorrow morning, except for who will be the clear winner. Parliament is math. The number of parties is of huge importance. If all these parties get in, I already know there will be no government," he said.
"We have worked with everyone else, we can work with everyone else. Everybody should do their own analysis of the results," Borissov said. He congratulated Vazrazhdane for their result but pointed out that the two political forces cannot work together due to their ideological differences and the differences of their European families - GERB's MEPs are part of the centre-right pro-European European People's Party, while Vazrazhdane MEPs are members of the far-right Eurosceptic Europe of Sovereign Nations party.
