BSP-United Left leader Atanas Zafirov cast his vote in the early parliamentary election on Sunday and said that he voted to return the country to the people.

Zafirov voted symbolically in the section where former president (2002-2012) Georgi Parvanov voted. He explained that he voted on paper because he believed that the chances of manipulation were less.

"I voted because we must clearly tell the Bulgarian citizens that every vote is important and everyone must exercise this right and not allow someone else to decide for them," said  Zafirov. "I voted because Bulgaria is in a severe crisis, economic, political, social, moral, and it is time for decisions," he added.

When asked for BSP-United Left's coalition preferences the next parliament, Zafirov said that they will answer this question after first seeing what the will of the Bulgarian citizens is and whether there will be a coalition at all. Then, the Bulgarian Socialist Party's collective bodies will see if there is any common policies and programmes with other parties, and arrange negotiations, he added.

Regarding a possible cabinet with a prime minister equidistant from all parties, Zafirov commented that the BSP-United Left was the first to bring this up. "I think it can be a working formula as long as the election results bear it out, he added.
