site.btaTurkiye's Istanbul, Bursa with Highest Number of Voters, Polling Stations for October Elections
For the parliamentary elections on October 27, a total of 51 polling stations will be opened in Turkiye's Istanbul region and 49 in Bursa region. This is nearly two thirds of the 168 polling stations to be opened in the country. The cities of Istanbul and Bursa are under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Istanbul and the Consular Office in Bursa. The number of polling stations is almost the same as in the previous elections in June 2024, when there were 99 in Istanbul and Bursa combined, the Consul General of Bulgaria in Istanbul Vasil Valchev said on Thursday.
According to him, Istanbul and Bursa are the regions with a compact number of expatriates who are also voters in Bulgaria's elections.
In Turkiye, there are no official statistics on the number of voters with Bulgarian citizenship who are eligible to participate in the upcoming snap elections because they are dual citizens. The number is determined according to the data from the expatriate societies. It is assumed that there are about 250,000 on the territory of Turkiye, of which more than 100,000 are based in the Istanbul area, and about 120,000-130,000 in the Bursa area.
