site.btaPaper for Sunday's Elections Has New Special Security Features
The paper for the early parliamentary elections this coming Sunday has new special security features, Central Election Commission (CEC) Spokesperson Rositsa Mateva said on Bulgarian National Television on Thursday.
Mateva said that tests and analyses have shown that the paper meets the standards set by amendments to the Election Code, which established a requirement for such paper to be supplied by the Bulgarian National Bank and to have special security features.
The paper rolls for the voting machines will be delivered to section election commissions separately from the machines themselves, Mateva explained. The paper to be used in these elections will be placed together with other materials in sealed envelopes. It is impossible to mix it up accidentally with paper from earlier elections which has not been destroyed, unless someone brings such residual paper on purpose. The CEC has ordered all the paper left from earlier elections to be destroyed, the spokesperson noted.
The 157 machines to be used abroad have already been shipped out. The preparation of the machines intended for use inside Bulgaria began on Monday. The process should be completed by Friday noon, after which the machines will be transported to section election commissions nationwide. Those meant for Sofia are usually sent out on Saturday morning.
