During a meeting with Burgas residents on Tuesday Vazrazhdane top-of-the-list candidate Tsoncho Ganev emphasized that urgent measures are needed for the Bulgarian economy to stop being the poorest in the EU and argued that the topmost priority is deciding against Bulgaria's entry in the eurozone for the next 20 years. "The first and most urgent thing is for the Council of Ministers to decide that Bulgaria will not enter the Eurozone in the next 20 years. We have the ability to put this off until we are ready, and we and our economy are not", he said. He noted that Romania made such a decision not to enter the eurozone until 2028, and Bulgaria must do the same.

Among the other important steps that Ganev pointed out is the renegotiation of Bulgaria's conditions for EU membership, mainly in the areas of energy and agriculture. "We must have independence in the energy sector, but we are moving towards closing mines and thermal power plants", he stressed.

Regarding the agriculture sector, Ganev noted that it is right to follow the French example, where the duty-free import of Ukrainian agricultural products was limited, while in Bulgaria it is still allowed. "Our farmers are forced to beg for handouts, because of the decisions of our native Euro-Atlantic politicians," he concluded.
