These elections are a battle for democracy and the rule of law, Ahmed Dogan, top candidate of the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (ARF) in Razgrad and Kardzhali said, quoted by the Alliance’s press centre.

"The political tension, which is deepening daily before our eyes, is no longer an internal party problem of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, nor is it ethnic, it has now become a national issue," Dogan said.

The problem is not caused by Muslims in Bulgaria, and its solution is not our responsibility alone. Who and how has created certain dark political entities is not a topic of an election campaign, but of a necessary public debate, combined with commitments of the competent state authorities, Dogan noted.

In the message, he says that "the lack of justice is a consequence of the partially captured state: prosecution, judiciary and law enforcement."
"Arranged arrests of politicians, mayors, businessmen and active citizens, as well as bankrupting companies or blocking their access to public procurement cross all limits of tolerance. The unity of the nation is being called into question," Ahmed Dogan said.

"That is why these elections are fateful for the country: they have the weight of a national referendum on the path of Bulgaria's development", he believes.
