Bulgaria's Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov arrived in New York on Monday to take part in the landmark 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

Zhelyazkov is leading a delegation during the General Assembly High-level Week 2025, whose members are Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev, Health Minister Silvi Kirilov, Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov, and Labour and Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov.

This year's theme of the General Debate is "Better Together: 80 Years and Beyond for Peace, Development and Human Rights".  It highlights the need to strengthen multilateralism through diplomacy, constructive dialogue, and sustainable partnerships, the Council of Ministers said. The forum is focusing on the equal importance and interconnectedness of the UN's three pillars: peace and security, development and human rights.

The year 2025 marks both the 80th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter and the 70th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in the organization.

During his visit to New York, Zhelyazkov will meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and will hold talks with US business representatives, said the Government Information Service.
