site.btaBulgaria Can Offer New Investment and Tech Cooperation Opportunities to China, Says Deputy Innovation Minister

Bulgaria is ready to offer new opportunities for investment and technological cooperation with China, stated Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Krasimir Yakimov during a Bulgarian-Chinese Conference on Trade and Economic Cooperation, held at the Hyatt Regency Sofia.
The event was jointly organized by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) and the Embassy of China in Bulgaria.
In his address, Yakimov emphasized that in today’s rapidly evolving world, active exchange of ideas and expertise is crucial in fields such as innovation, scientific research, technology transfer, artificial intelligence, and green energy. He noted that Bulgaria has significant expert potential and is actively working to improve its business environment and promote itself as an attractive destination for investors.
The Deputy Minister pointed out that recent amendments to the Investment Promotion Act have expanded the application of incentive measures, reduced certification timelines for investment projects, and eased administrative procedures. He recalled that just over a year ago, he personally presented a Class A Investor Certificate to a Chinese investor for a high-tech plant producing aluminium parts for the automotive industry.
Yakimov underlined the potential for further collaboration between Bulgaria and China, including with Jiangsu Province, particularly in technology transfer and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
“I am convinced that our cooperation can accelerate the digital and green transformation of businesses and lead to the creation of new innovation hubs and clusters,” Yakimov said.
He encouraged investors to take advantage of the tools and programmes offered by the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, which support foreign companies in entering the Bulgarian market and expanding their operations.
