Within his working visit to Brussels, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev held bilateral meetings with his counterparts Gideon Sa'ar of Israel and Jan Lipavsky of Czechia, Georgiev's Ministry said in a press release Monday. Georgiev was in Brussels to attend a regular monthly meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council dedicated to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East and the situation in eastern DR Congo.

At his meeting with the Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister, Georgiev said: "Bulgaria stands in solidarity and supports the Israeli people after the barbaric attack of October 7, 2023. We hope that the ceasefire agreements with Hamas and Hezbollah will be steps towards stabilising the situation in the region and preventing violence." The two ministers assessed positively the development of bilateral relations and outlined the possibilities for their deepening in various areas of mutual interest.

With his Czech counterpart, the Bulgarian Foreign Minister discussed the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine and the need for continued support for Kyiv. They touched upon EU cooperation on the implementation of sanctions against Russia and, in particular, preventing their circumvention. They also discussed the common interests of the two countries in the field of energy cooperation.
