site.btaTennis Player Grigor Dimitrov Qualifies for Stockholm Open SF
The best Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov made a step towards a new title in his career by defeating Swiss player Dominic Stricker 6-3, 6-2 in just over one hour and 11 minutes at the BNP Paribas Nordic Open tennis tournament in Stockholm on Friday. The Bulgarian thus qualified for the semifinals where he will face Tallon Griekspoor from the Netherlands.
Dimitrov, who won the title in Stockholm in 2013 and was also a finalist in 2014 and 2017, saved two break points in the third game of the first set to take a 2-1 lead against the Swiss. The two were evenly matched until 3-3, when the Bulgarian showed his class and took the next three games.
The start of the next set was excellent for Dimitrov, who took the first four games. Eventually, Stricker did win his serve, but it was too little too late, and the Bulgarian closed the match.
Dimitrov has met his next opponent, Griekspoor, once in his career. They played at the 2024 US Open, and Dimitrov won the match in straight sets.
