Аll Bulgarian athletes who ranked among the top eight in their respective events at the Paris Olympics will be paid bonuses, said caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev at the beginning of Wednesday's regular Government meeting. The bonuses amount to BGN 250,000 for Olympic champions, BGN 200,000 for silver medalists and BGN 100,000 for bronze.

The Prime Minister focused on Bulgarian athletes’ performance at the Olympics in Paris. "I congratulate the Bulgarian Olympians, their coaches and heads of federations for the fact that those who competed on behalf of Bulgaria managed to make the most successful Olympics in 20 years," Glavchev said. He also stressed that no matter how much money the state allocates for sport, it will not be enough.

Bulgaria finished 26th in the 2024 Summer Olympics medal table. Bulgarian athletes registered their best Olympic performance since Sydney 2000, winning three gold, one silver and three bronze medals in Paris.
