Over 130 participants from 10 countries in the TID 2024 Danube boat tour reached the Bulgarian city of Vidin on Tuesday. There they were welcomed by Mayor Tsvetan Tsenkov and other local officials at the landmark Baba Vida fortress.

Bulgaria hosts the Novo Selo - Silistra stage of TID 2024 from August 13 to 27. Again, Silistra will be the final point as the Romanian leg was cut short for security considerations due to the Ukraine war.

TID, from Tour International Danubien, is the longest tour for canoes, kayaks and rowboats taking place on the Danube since 1956. Its route totals а 2,516 km. Each participant carries their own luggage and tent. The actual route starts off in Ingolstadt (Germany), usually on the second last weekend of June, from where it leads through Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.
