71st Tour of Bulgaria Will Start in Sofia and End in Gabrovo

The 71st Tour of Bulgaria will start in Sofia on August 24 and will end in Gabrovo on August 29, the Bulgarian Cycling federation said.

The route was approved on Monday at meetings of the new leadership of the Bulgarian Cycling Federation, including President Evgeni Balev and Management Board member Georgi Lumparov, with Troyan Mayor Donka Mihailova and Gabrovo Mayor Tanya Hristova.

"The upcoming Tour of Bulgaria will pass through these two remarkable cities. Preparations are underway and we are confident that it will be an unforgettable experience both for competitors and spectators ", the Federation said.

Traditionally the tour begins with a prologue around the St. Alexander Nevsky cathedral in Sofia, which will take place on August 24.

A day later, on August 25, the first leg of the tour will take place from Sofia to Troyan through the Beklemeto Pass. On August 26, the second stage will be from Troyan to Kazanlak, and on August 27, the longest leg between Kazanlak to Burgas. The fourth stage will be from Primersko to Sliven through the Sinite Kamani Nature Park ".

The tour will end with a mountain leg from Sliven to Gabrovo through the Shipka Pass on August 29.
