"I believe that reason will prevail and the voice of peace will be heard louder than weapons," Vice President Iliana Iotova said at a meeting here on Monday with students and teachers from the predominantly ethnic Bulgarian-populated Bolhrad region in Ukraine, the President's press secretariat said. The Vice President expressed her support to the students in the difficult time for their country. "I paid you a visit in 2019, I wish to see you again soon in peaceful and calm times," Iotova said.

The Vice President thanked the teachers for passing on to the children the knowledge of their ancestral homeland Bulgaria and teaching them the Bulgarian language. "Thank you for managing to paint the world for our children in colours other than those of war in difficult conditions," Iotova addressed the teachers.

The students are on a five-day educational and awareness-raising seminar in Bulgaria at the invitation of the Neofit Rilski South-West University in cooperation with the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad. The visit is part of the university's initiative to deepen contacts with representatives of Bulgarian historical diasporas. The majority of the students plan to continue their education in Bulgarian universities. Students from Moldova will also visit Bulgaria.
